Lehr Lowers Own School Record To 1:47.35; Erin Vringer Breaks Utah 3,000m School Record To Win Women's Invitational; Luke Tewalt Betters Canadian Olympian Justyn Knight In Men's Invitational 3,000 By Keenan Gray of DyeStat Russell Moore photos North Texas' Chase Lehr broke his own school record in the men's 800 meters at the Washington Invitational, running 1 minute, 47.35 seconds at the Dempsey Indoor Facility in Seattle. The North Texas junior shaved off nearly two seconds of his previous indoor best of 1:49.12 to beat Collin Dylla, 1:47.81, Friday night in Seattle. Erin Vringer broke the Utah school record in the women's 3,000 to win the invitational section in 8:48.26, beating fellow Canadian and Olympian Regan Yee in 8:51.20. Washington's Chloe Thomas, another Canadian, finished third in 8:51.27. Washington State's Zenah Cheptoo ran 8:53.90 for fourth. Luke Tewalt, who transferred to Oregon from Wake Forest but is running unattached right now, beat Canadian Olympian Justyn Knight and American steeplechaser Duncan Hamilton in the men's invitational 3,000. Tewalt clocked 7:49.73, winning by a combined one second over Knight (7:50.67) and Hamilton (7:50.77). California's Justin Pretre was the top collegian, finishing fourth in 7:51.57. Utah State's LJ Floyd ran 13:47.78 en route to winning the men's invitational 5,000. Weber State's Saga Hagelin won the women's invitational 5,000 in 16:12.26. TCU's Ronnie Kendrick won the men's 400 in 46.58, just .15 seconds off the meet record. More news |
